5/25 – 5/31 Time to head inland, well sort of…..

Well, kinda sad to leave the Pacific coast behind but we now have the Puget Sound ahead of us. Originally we had planned on going to Port Angeles WA/Sequim WA area but after chatting with some fellow campers who were from that area we changed our plans. Seems they were oyster aficionados and recommended a place called “Hama Hama”. “It’s a must stop”. We chose to stop in Shelton WA down near the south end of the Sound. We had also added a stop in Walla Walla WA and the route worked a little better to bypass Port Angeles.

Along the way we found a very interesting area that was full of wild life and had an island called Long Island and not the New York version. Lots of tidal influence in this area.

You can see a lot of oyster shells in this area.

Hama Hama is an “Oyster Saloon” that that is an extremely popular destination for many folks. Locals will drive long distances just to eat there and go back home. They are an oyster farmer and serve their own oysters along with one or two other local farmers.

Yup, Tasty! the oysters were definitely worth modifying our trip plans.. Sitting in the sound with a magnificent view. eating the product of the area.

Debi is not a fan of oysters, but Hama Hama has something for everyone.

The place is huge with lots of space to sit and enjoy everything.

While we were at the Little Creek RV park this gigantic rig was parked next to us. That 5th wheel is smaller than ours. But, they put a mini Fiat onto the back of the semi bed. In some cases I might have truck envy, but this is even too big for me.

Even though we decided not to camp near port Angeles didn’t mean we wouldn’t  make a day drive to the port. Had some lunch on the water front and watched all the shipping move in and out.
