One item missing from the last stop was a sewer connection so we had to carefully manage our water tanks because there wasn’t a way to empty them. We were prepared and it wasn’t a a big issue. However, you do have to take very short showers. We arrived at a sweet RV park called “The Nugget” anticipating a couple of weeks of hot showers and not having to worry about water.
We arrived and it turned out we had what is called a buddy site. Meaning that the two rvs next to each other open their doors towards each other. Not really a big deal providing there is enough space between and those next to you are cool.
Our initial neighbors were cool and they left the next day………………………….
Well, turns out the next folks next to us were the patriarchs leading a family reunion of about 60 or so other family members and we were right in the middle of all their campers and trailers. They initially thought we were long lost members.
We decided we didn’t want to be adopted, checked out of the RV park and located an awesome National Park campground just a few miles down the road. This turned out to be one of those events that turned out for the better. Amazing NP, cost much much less than the planned park and was once again, right next to a river. (I think we’re becoming river rats). The only drawback to the NP was…………… no sewer connection! Meaning short showers and careful water management. Again.
Pretty nice view from our unexpected campground. Our spot was gigantic and had great view and didn’t have to look at other campers. Who needs to take showers with this view. Maybe the campers downwind of us wishes we would. (Actually, we did shower and clean up)
We were right next to the Clark Fork river.
Just down the road from our campsite was the town of Wallace MT. At one time, one of the most productive silver mining areas in the U.S. We took a tour of one of the local, inoperative mines. One thing to note is that there weren’t any tall miners, hence the low ceilings.
He’s not much of a conversationalist.
OK, we gotta work on our selfie smiles.
Mining equipment
They do make very good pizza in Wallace.
Well, we had another mouse get into the rig and I started looking for how they were getting in. Discovered an opening in the corroplast under the rig. Checked it out and it turned out to have some water accumulation in the insulation. No leaks from the rig, must have entered via rainwater. Had to pull out a bunch of insulation.
Found the most beautiful lake view we have ever seen!
Just Gorgeous!
Awesome stream leaving the lake.
And of course a waterfall.
I’m still amazed at all the beautiful scenery we get to experience.
If you look closely at this rock you’ll notice that its been cleanly split along some seams. The only thing I can think of is that water got in there, froze, and split the rock. It does get pretty cold here, sometimes 20 below. Crazy how powerful nature can be in small ways.
Natures been busy splitting all this rock.
This was a nice surprise. It was a team penning event near the campground. Lots of fun to watch them sort the cows.
