2/2022-2/27/22 Finally, we arrived at a location where we are staying for more than a day! Whew, those long drives to get here were tedious but totally worth it. Lots to explore here in Austin and the expectation of some nice weather. Oh, and the place where we are staying is right on the river and is amazing.
Day 1 and 2 – We couldn’t have asked for better weather, about 80 degrees and sunny. Nice weather to relax, do a little maintenance and organizing on the rig. OK, well one of the first things we did was go after some Texas BBQ. We went to Blacks BBQ, got a few pounds of brisket, some ribs, mac and cheese, and slaw. We were eating the brisket for a couple of days. If you are into BBQ, Blacks is not necessarily on top of the list, but for us it was really good!. Franklin and a couple of others are top tier BBBQ’s. But Blacks was close and we didn’t have to get up at 5am to go get in line for the other places.
Day 3 Whaaaaaaaaat! Woke up to 32 degrees and freezing rain. But we had heat in the rig and warm jackets. The freezing rain made the roads slick and the steps into our rig verrrrry slippery so travel for the next couple of days was out of the question. But, we found ways to stay entertained as the view around us was pretty awesome.
Day 5 Uh Oh We rely heavily on our phones for data, especially Debi as she uses hers for work and to connect to her office. On the way to Austin, hers kept losing connections or had very bad data performance. It was an intermittent issue and continued while we were in Austin. Seemed like a case for the Apple store to resolve but on the way to the store the phone was working fine and it was unlikely that the Apple store could then find the problem. Since we needed reliable phone performance on our trip we decided to upgrade her phone. She now has the red hot line phone to everybody.
