3/3/22 What can I say, I grew up when we were preparing to land on the Moon and watched it when we actually did on July 20, 1969 and I’m excited as a little kid to be going to JSC! JSC is where they controlled the missions to the moon and where you see many of the scenes in the movie Apollo 13. So without further ado, here are some photos and comments from my visit.

Mission Control fully restored to the state it was in during the first the Moon landing. Mission Control at JSC on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The restoration of Mission Control was completed just a few years ago. They even included the cigarette butts and ashtrays.
Mission Control in action at it was during the Moon landing. Part of the tour of Mission Control is that you sit in the Mission Control visitors area which is in its 1969 vintage configuration, The really cool part is that they played the sounds and audio of the landing had all the manuals, books, and even activated the data and buttons on the consoles as it occurred during the landing. They did an amazing job of capturing all the details in Mission Control during this historic moment. You watched the same video the controllers did during the landing. It was a really thrilling moment for me to watch the reenactment of the landing in Mission Control.

They even restored the phone booths in the victors viewing area. Can you imagine the phone call that went through there after the landing!
There were other cool things to see at JSC such as the business end of the Saturn V. Those engines are HUGE!
Whenever there was a docking and undocking is space there were always comments about the “probe”.
This 5 foot tall Saturn V rocket was built usiing a 3D printer. The person who built it has even published the plans to build it.Hmmmmm, maybe I should get a 3D printer
